I tried.....

But everything hurt. After 4 A's and 1 B, I felt the old familiar tightness in the low back in the up-dogs so I stopped and did some stretching. I tried to do a little shoulderstand but that wasn't working out either. I will try again tomorrow.

Fuck yoga.

And where is my Ladies' Holiday????

Crab.

oh.... I hope you feel better! crab crab! I'm with you!

Next time you're at the shala, if you feel like mentioning the lower back tightness to Greg, he might be able to show you something easy to fix it. He's really very good with backs.

If I could just figure out what was causing it! I thought it was sloppy updogs? But then when I work harder in updog (rolling the thighs up, engaging the legs, trying to get length and no crunch), it gets worse? I thought it was UHP? But there seems to be no rhyme or reason with that. May have to break down and ask him.

Fuck yoga. My new slogan.

Are you moving the pelvis far enough forward?

(I ask this because that's what I was doing wrong for awhile when I was having lower back pain all over)

Ask him - that's his special trick.

Uddiyana bandha should help your low back. Firm your lower belly in as you come into updog. Should keep you from crunching the low back. You might feel as if you are getting less of a backbend, but soon the bend will redistribute up your back instead of concentrating it down low.

That is too funny that you say that, YC, because this morning I decided to focus on bandhas and it seemed to help some! More in today's post.....
